Here at The Sourdough Labs, we love a good experiment, especially when it comes to gluten-free sourdough bread. After testing, tweaking, and trialling all sorts of gluten-free flours, one clear winner rose to the top: buckwheat.

Our Buckwheat Sourdough Starter is the result of lots of messy, floury fun in the lab — and trust us, it was worth every bake. Buckwheat flour creates a beautiful resilient starter with a lovely tang and a real sourdough-style rise — perfect for gluten free loaves that taste as good as they look.

Made with just buckwheat flour and water, this wild fermented starter is naturally gluten-free, full of friendly microbes, and ready to help you bake your best gluten-free bread yet.

This product contains buckwheat and does not come into contact with any of our wheat-based starters, we also use separate equipment and containers to ensure we do not cross-contaminate. However due to health and safety regulations we must label that it may contain traces of wheat (gluten) due to being prepared in the same space.
