Product details

Create beautifully risen, flavourful sourdough with our Stoneground White Sourdough Starter, made using carefully selected organic stoneground white wheat flour.

Stoneground flour is milled more traditionally, helping retain more of the grain’s natural character, including fine particles from the outer layers and germ that can be lost through more intensive roller milling. This gives the starter a little more natural goodness and character while still producing the lighter colour and versatile flavour you would expect from a white sourdough starter.

There are no additional additives added to our starter. It is simply made using organic stoneground white wheat flour and water, allowing the naturally occurring yeasts and beneficial bacteria to do what they do best.

The result is a lively, reliable starter that is ideal for creating classic sourdough loaves with a balanced flavour, lovely crust and open, soft crumb. It is a great choice if you want something lighter than a wholegrain starter while still benefiting from the character of stoneground flour.

Perfect for beginners and experienced sourdough bakers alike.

Please note that the jar is not included but can be purchased as part of our starter kits. The starter shown in the jar in our product images contains approximately 200g of starter at peak activity.

Why You’ll Love Our Stoneground White Starter

Made with Stoneground Flour: Traditionally milled flour retains more of the grain's natural character than highly refined roller-milled flour.

No Additional Additives: We don't add anything extra to the starter. It is made simply from organic stoneground white wheat flour and water.

A Great Middle Ground: Lighter and milder than wholegrain while offering more natural grain character than a conventional white flour starter.
